American Rock Salt Hampton Corners Mine Livingston County, New York
The Hampton Corners Mine sits in the Genesee Valley among scattered small towns and farms. Down 1200 feet, and stretching along one level, the mine's foot print grows and changes continually. Using the room and pillar system, miners blast and extract rock salt from a huge deposit that reaches across to Detroit, south to Virginia, and north through Ontario.
